Both roadway approaches to the bridge are now paved and guardrail has been installed. Work will continue into the next few weeks with the installation of gravel shoulders, sidewalk hand rail, traffic and street signs, line stripping and general site cleanup. Bridge is currently anticipated to be opened to traffic on August 5th.
Work continues this week with installation of drainage structures at the east approach. Local residents should expect minor delays as the road will need to be closed temporarily throughout the week. During the closure there will be a detour route in place.
Reinforcing steel for the deck has been installed. The crew is getting ready to pour the concrete for the deck of the eastern span on Wednesday, April 19th. A portion of Western Avenue, between Patterson Hill Road and Cote Hill Road, will be closed during the concrete pour from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. During the closure a detour will be in place with the aid of flaggers. We apologize for this inconvenience to the local residents and will do everything we can to minimize this type of inconvenience in future work.
Erection of the deck panels for both trusses is complete. Expansion joint steel and hardware has also been installed on each end of the bridge. Work will continue in coming weeks with pouring of the abutment backwall concrete and installation of the reinforcing steel for the new concrete deck.
